Welcome to Mykonos House! We are a family-owned company deeply rooted in the history and culture of the island, and we are passionate about preserving its heritage for future generations. We do this through our property management and restoration projects.
Mykonos is an island with a rich history that dates back thousands of years. It was originally known as “Sacred Island of Delos” and was considered a sacred site of ancient Greece. The island was home to the Delian League, an association of Greek city-states that played a major role in the history of the region. The energy from Delos Island is still present on Mykonos today, giving the island a unique and mystical atmosphere.
It was on this island that the ancient Mykonos took its name, and the island has since become a hub of culture and tradition. One of the most iconic symbols of Mykonos is the windmills, which were originally built in the 16th century to grind wheat and were once a vital part of the island’s economy. The island was an important trading center in the 16th century, and its location made it vulnerable to pirate attacks.
Our company is proud to own one of these windmills, which we have lovingly restored to its former glory. Our windmill is located in the Alefkandra area, which is known for its stunning views of the sea and the town of Mykonos. This area is also home to many other beautifully preserved windmills, making it a must-see destination for anyone visiting the island. Today, many of these windmills have been preserved, and they stand as a testament to the island’s rich history.
